Summary: A big chunk of arctic air is overhead, and will retreat for Sunday-only, but another piece of it rotates back in for New Years Eve and New Years Day. While it is very cold, it is relatively short-lived. And, it is worth noting that, after January 2nd, maps indicate a serious warm up for the first half of January! As for precip, we finally get a storm track conducive to driving snow south, and what happens, repeatedly? Snow storms go too far south, into New Mexico!  In fact, it is snowing at the border with Mexico, and yet, not here! Amazing. Now there is a reasonable chance for snow Sunday night into Monday, but the way these things have gone lately, don’t bank on it…yet!
