PUEBLO – The Arkansas Riverwalk in Pueblo could see some improvements.

The Pueblo Urban Renewal Authority will be doing a study to see how the Riverwalk can expand East.

The authority’s plan is to extend the Riverwalk from the Convention Center to Gruma Dr. on Santa Fe Avenue to attract drivers from I-25 to check out Pueblo.

“It’s just we further expanding that amenity that really has redefined the core part of our down town,” commented Jerry Pacheco, with the Pueblo urban renewal authority.

Urban Renewal thinks the project will cost between $3,000,000 to $8,000,000 and the study should be done by the end of January.

Pending city council approval, the group hopes to have work started on the Riverwalk by early 2020.
