Three arrests made for shooting Saturday in Las Animas County

WESTON – On Saturday, the Las Animas County Sheriff’s Office requested assistance from the Colorado Bureau of Investigation to investigate an incident in Weston where two residents were shot in their home in the 1700 block of County Rd. 18.6.

The incident happened just after noon on Saturday.

The CBI said the victims were a woman and man.  The still unidentified woman received non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Sunday, the CBI identified the male victim as 19-year-old Armando Gallegos. He was transported to a Colorado Springs hospital where he later died from his injuries.

On Saturday, three individuals were contacted during a traffic stop in Las Animas County and were detained at the Sheriff’s Office. Sunday, the CBI said these three people were arrested in connection to the shooting.

20-year-old Oscar Botello-Serrano faces charges of Murder in the First Degree, Assault in the First Degree, Attempt to Commit Murder in the First Degree, and Conspiracy.

19-year-old Aleesha Duran faces charges of Accessory to Murder in the First Degree and Conspiracy.

21-year-old John Michael Kindle faces charges of Accessory to Murder in the First Degree and Conspiracy.

All three suspects are being held at the Las Animas County Detention Facility without bond.

The CBI said they are continuing to investigate to determine what led to the shooting.

Weston is located approximately 22 miles west of Trinidad.
