PUEBLO – Just before 1 a.m. Sunday morning, Officers Nash and Golden with the Pueblo Police Department responded to a “south side location” on a report of three children staying in an RV with no heat.

The department said that’s exactly what the officers found when they arrived at the location. A 16-year-old girl and her 14 and 10-year-old siblings were living in the RV, which had no power, which means no heat. The RV also had no running water.

PD said a 19-year-old family friend was with the children, but he had five active arrest warrants and was taken into custody. The children’s mother was found at a motel, but she also had an arrest warrant. PD said a Child Neglect report was being ‘sent up’ on her.

Officers Nash and Golden put the kids in their patrol vehicles to warm up.  The kids had eaten very little, so the officers got them some hot food at a nearby restaurant.

The department said a responsible adult was found for the children and they were left with that person.
