COLORADO SPRINGS – Wednesday night, special honors were bestowed upon a member of the greatest generation who lives in Colorado Springs.

World War II veteran and Pearl Harbor survivor Donal Stratton was recognized Wednesday night at a special ceremony.

Thanks to the “Pikes Peak Heroes Legacy Committee,” Stratton’s name will be remembered in his home community for years to come as the Fillmore bridge over I-25 will be renamed in his honor. In addition, the committee is working on a large-scale mobile museum exhibit dedicated to the story of Donald, the Arizona, and Pearl Harbor.

“It’s a wonderful thing but it brings back a lot of memories because it brings back the memories of the ship and we lost so many men that day,” said Stratton.

The exhibit is expected to be delivered by next Springs.
