COLORADO SPRINGS – On Saturday, the Colorado Springs Fire Department teamed up with Make-A-Wish Colorado to help fulfill the wish of a young cancer patient in the Springs.
Young Lanie Lazechko is one of 50 people diagnosed with a rare cellular disease. She submitted a wish for a swim spa, and Saturday, her wish was fulfilled.
Make-A-Wish Colorado delivered the swim spa to Lanie’s home Saturday and the Colorado Springs Fire Department had the honor of filling it for her. A CSFD engine arrived at Lanie’s house Saturday morning and filled the tub using the hoses from the truck.
CSFD said Lanie loves to swim, as it offsets her greatest difficulty, gravity.
She will not take her maiden voyage in the spa until a later date, as it takes six to eight hours to heat up and the weather is currently too cold.
