PUEBLO – Evraz has plans to build a new steel mill in the Steel City.

Pueblo City Council has approved a $15 million incentive package to help Evraz build a new rail steel mill in the city. In return, Evraz would invest more than $200 million in equipment, as well as maintain 1,000 full-time employees.

The company would also provide $800 thousand for pre-employment training at Pueblo Community College.

“The investment in the community solidifies and strengthens the steel industry in Pueblo,” said Pedco President/CEO, Jeff Shaw. “It embraces who we are but also it keeps the steel industry strong in Pueblo for probably the next century.”

Evraz has until December 1, 2019, to approve the deal for the new rail steel mill.
