El Paso County Sheriff’s Office arrests man on multiple charges for threatening road crew with rifle

EL PASO COUNTY – On Saturday, Oct. 20, El Paso County deputies were dispatched to the 4200 block of Outpost Road regarding a menacing call.

When deputies arrived at the scene, they learned a constructions crew was working on the road when a man came out and confronted them.

The Sheriff’s Office said the man was armed with a chrome-colored “assault” style rifle and pointed it at the crew, threatening to shoot them. The man then fired three round into the ground before returning to his property and firing several more times.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, a warrant was obtained and executed at the man’s residence, where the rifle was located along with a magazine for the weapon.

The man has been identified as 55-year-old Edward Otis Jr. He was transported to the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Justice Center Jail, where he was booked on charges of Felony Menacing, Prohibited Use of a Weapon, and Reckless Endangerment.
