LOS ANGELES COUNTY – Two deputies went above and beyond when helping an elderly woman who was stranded in the road after her motorized wheelchair ran out of power.

Deputies Chapman and Montanez of the Lancaster Sheriff’s Station, received reports of a traffic hazard last Tuesday afternoon. Upon arrival, a wheelchair was discovered on the side of the road, only the wheelchair was not unoccupied.

An elderly woman was stranded in the wheelchair because it had run out of power. The deputies offered the woman a ride home, but she wasn’t happy about leaving her means of mobility behind.

Unfortunately, the wheelchair did not fit in the patrol car due to not being able to fold in half, the sheriff’s office said. Deputy Montanez decided to take matters into his own hands and pushed the wheelchair all the way to the woman’s home.

The sheriff’s office posted a video of Montanez pushing the wheelchair about a mile in distance, in full uniform and boots. Deputy Chapman even teased Montanez to pick up the pace, giving their elderly friend a good chuckle.
