Two drivers seriously injured in two-car crash on Highway 115

FREMONT COUNTY – Two drivers were seriously injured in a two-car crash on Highway 115 Monday.

Colorado State Patrol is investigating the crash that happened on Highway 115 at milepost four in Fremont County Monday afternoon. This was four miles west of Florence.

State Patrol said a Ford F-150 was traveling north, while a Ram 1500 truck was traveling south. Both trucks were going around a curve when the F-150 went to the left and into oncoming traffic.

Both trucks then collided head-on. The driver of the F-150, 68-year-old David Jimenez of Florence, was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. He was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.

The Ram driver, 33-year-old Nicole Watkins-Varao of Williamsburg, was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. She was also transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.

Alcohol and drugs were not being considered factors in the accident.
