FREMONT COUNTY – The Fremont County Sheriff’s Office reports two people and a dog were found dead in a structure fire in the 1300 block of 34th Trail in Cotopaxi Monday.

Deer Mountain Fire crews were dispatched to the reported structure fire around 2:30 p.m. Monday. The sheriff’s office said while crews were fighting the fire the fatalities were discovered.

However, the entire property has not yet been searched due to how hot the scene still is.

The home was destroyed as a result of the blaze. The Fremont County Investigations Unit and CBI investigators are conducting the investigation into the cause of the fire and the deaths.

Victim identities are being withheld as the autopsies are scheduled later this week. There is no additional information available at this time.
