CUSTER COUNTY – A 65-year-old woman was killed in a single-car crash near Highway 165 Sunday afternoon.
Custer County deputies received reports of an unattended death and discovered a fatal crash when they arrived on scene. Colorado State Patrol was also called to the scene to conduct the investigation into the crash.
CSP said a 2013 Ford Escape was traveling northbound on a private road off 4365 Highway 165 when it went off the right side of the road hitting a rock and a tree. 65-year-old Adelaide Mestres Everhart was pronounced dead at the scene.
CSP said she was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and reported alcohol being a contributing factor to the crash. The crash remains under investigation.
