COLORADO SPRINGS – Colorado Springs Fire Department crews spent hours working to put out a house fire in the Peregrine neighborhood Tuesday night.

Firefighters said the call came in at 6:14 p.m. and the fire was still burning in spots of the home hours later.  No injuries were reported and all people in the house were accounted for.

CSFD said they had to fight the fire from above due to terrain around the house and because the roof collapsed on the structure.

When they arrived, the fire was seen shooting through the roof and the attic. The fire produced a column of smoke visible across Colorado Springs earlier Tuesday night.

CSFD has not yet determined an official cause of the fire, but neighbors reported hearing thunder in the area shortly before it started.
