COLORADO SPRINGS – The Colorado Springs Police Department says Officer Cem Duzel has had no significant changes in his condition and remains critical Saturday.

CSPD said the officer remains critical, but is stable Saturday. The injured officer was last reported being able to take some breaths on his own while being treated at UCHealth Memorial Hospital Central.

Officer Duzel was gravely wounded while responding to a shots fired call on Boulder Street in the early hours of August 2nd. Duzel sustained a gunshot wound to the head and was rushed to the nearby Level 1 trauma center for treatment.

Police are asking the public to be patient with updates as the Colorado Springs Police Department is working to balance medical updates with Cem’s privacy.

Officer Duzel has been with CSPD for 5 years and is assigned as a patrol officer for the Sand Creek Division.
