According to the Castle Rock Police Department, a 31-year-old man accidentally shot his wife Friday night, thinking she was an intruder in their home.
The CRPD said shortly after 10 p.m. Friday, a man in the 600 block of Howe Street called police to report that he accidentally shot his wife.
The man told police it was dark inside their home and he heard noises. When the man encountered his wife, he thought she was an intruder and shot her, according to CRPD.
Police said the 33-year-old woman was taken to the hospital and is expected to survive.
Castle Rock Police are investigating the incident, but at this time they don’t suspect foul play.
