Fort Carson troops are getting ready for a winter deployment to Afghanistan.
The Mountain Post announced that the 4th Infantry Division Headquarters will head overseas in the winter of 2018 in a news release on Thursday. The 4th Inf. Div. Headquarters will replace the 101st Airborne Division Headquarters. Those troops are from Fort Cambell, Kentucky.
The deployment is part of a rotation of forces in the region. The month of the deployment and the number of troops was not released.
"The 4th Infantry Division has a legacy of answering the nation’s call and serving with distinction for more than 100 years. Throughout our proud history, one thing that has not changed is the heart and courage of our Soldiers. Ivy Soldiers are highly trained and READY to answer the call to fight and win our nation’s wars and to support this important mission in Afghanistan," said Maj. Gen. Randy A. George, commanding general, 4th Infantry Division and Fort Carson.
