The Colorado State Patrol is investigating a two-vehicle crash that left one person dead in Baca County.
The crash happened Wednesday night around 9:30 on Highway 287 in Baca County.
According to State Patrol, a GMC Yukon driven by 35-year-old Justin Murdock, of Gruver, Tx, was traveling northbound on 287 when it drifted into the southbound lane and collided with a southbound Volvo semi tractor trailer.
The GMC rolled on its side and came to rest on the west shoulder of the highway. The Volvo semi traveled off the east side of the road, rolled on its side, and became engulfed in flames, according to State Patrol.
The Baca County Coroner pronounced Justin Murdock dead at the scene. 34-year-old, Mykola Zhalanavsky, of Abbotsford, British Columbia, was driving the Volvo semi. Both he and a 62-year-old passenger suffered minor injuries.
State Patrol said alcohol is being considered a factor in the crash, but they are still investigating.
