According to Colorado Springs Utilities, the weather is causing significant delays in repairing the water main break discovered Wednesday on Garden of the Garden of the Gods Road between Forge and Centennial Blvd.
Springs Utilities said "a good portion" of the roadway in both directions will have to be torn out to repair the water main. The repairs first expected to take until Friday will not last until late Saturday or early Sunday.
"I understand, I feel your pain. You know, I mean I was driving in it too just now and it’s tough," said CSU spokesperson Steve Berry.
Berry added the pipe, which has been there since the 1950’s, likely gave out due to corrosion.
The road is down to two open lanes for westbound traffic and one lane for eastbound traffic. You should plan ahead to bypass the impacted area by using Fillmore or Rockrimmon to get to Centennial Blvd before heading onto Garden of the Gods Road.
