Two Adams County Fire Rescue firefighters were taken to the hospital for "non serious" injuries while fighting a fire at the EVRAZ recycling center Tuesday afternoon.
The fire sent up a large plume of smoke above the Denver skyline that could be seen for miles along the Front Range. It took hours to gain control of the fire, which was knocked down at 7 a.m. Wedneday and firefighters continued working the fire until approximately 4:36 p.m.
A total of 112 firefighters responded to the fire, which is still under investigation. Investigators have not yet determined a cause.
No EVRAZ employees were hurt in the fire and the fire did not spread outside of the scrap pile.
