Airline passengers on a flight from New York City to Los Angeles Tuesday night got quite a scare before they could get off the ground.

Flight 1623 was departing JFK for Los Angeles when the Federal Aviation Administration says the aircraft experienced a radio equipment problem around 8 p.m. The plane sent a false alarm to the airport’s control tower while it was taxiing to take off, according to the Port Authority.

Passengers tweeted that heavily armed police boarded the plane after it returned to the gate. The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey inspected the aircraft and issued an all clear.
