Hundreds of people laced up their sneakers to take part in the Fourth Annual ‘Climb for Courage’ at Falcon Stadium Saturday.
One in particular, was exceptionally inspiring. Second time climbers, Jason Ziwak and his mom climbed all the way to the top of the stadium, as every dollar raised at the event will go towards building the new Children’s Hospital in Colorado Springs.
Something many in the community are depending on.
"We did the climb last year, Jackson was an ambassador for the hospital, right? Yeah, yeah, and now were out just to show our support fundraise as much as we possibly can because to have a facility such as children’s hospital in our back yard is gonna mean the world to this community, ya and you love to play football, ya," said Jason’s mom Tina.
Colorado Springs is one of only three cities this size without a have a comprehensive children’s hospital. Construction for the hospital recently celebrated its one year mark, moving step closer to completion.
The Children’s Hospital is expecting to welcome its first patient in the spring of 2019.
We will keep you updated on how much money was raised at the event.
