The Julie Penrose Fountain at America the Beautiful Park has been a popular place to beat the summer heat since 2007.
Right now, the fountain is temporarily out of commission and there’s no exact date for it be operating again. Earlier this week, park crews noticed the fountain wasn’t working.
After they did some digging, they found that the water service line to the fountain basically blew out. The Parks Department is hoping the fountain will be open by the end next week.
Update on the Julie Penrose Fountain: After evaluating the damage, we have determined that a damaged pipe has led to mechanical issues. City employees are working quickly to open the fountain as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience! #COSParks #COSFountains pic.twitter.com/T1YapOs2Aj
