Royal Gorge Whitewater Festival this weekend in Canon City

The 10th annual Royal Gorge Whitewater Festival (RGWF) returns to Canon City this weekend, June 22nd and 23rd.

The RGWF features whitewater as well as land based competitions along the Arkansas River to promote the outdoors and an active lifestyle.

The festival is held in the Whitewater Park in the western portion of Canon City, just over a mile from the end of Royal Gorge. Along with the competitions, the festival features food, beer, vendor, and live entertainment for the whole family.

Profits from the festival will go toward the continued expansion of the Whitewater Park, river restoration, and charitable causes, according to the festival’s website.

Important information for this event:

–There is a $5 entrance fee for anyone 13 or older, kids 12 and under are free
–There is no entrance fee for the participants
–No dogs are allowed in the festival area, with the exception of the Weenie Dog Race participants and trained service animals
–In order to consume alcoholic beverages you must be 21 or older and have identification
–No outside food or alcohol is allowed in the festival
–All bags are subject to search
–No firearms are allowed in the festival area
