The Town of Monument Board of Trustees voted unanimously late Monday to fire Town Manager Chris Lowe, who had been on administrative leave since February amid an internal investigation regarding workplace conduct. Following a closed executive session lasting more than three hours Monday night, the trustees voted 6-0 to terminate Lowe’s employment.
Lowe was placed on administrative leave after he placed Monument’s Police Chief, Jacob Shirk, on administrative leave following a negative performance review. Shirk’s suspension was quickly lifted, but Lowe remained on leave.
Also Monday, the board voted 5-1 to reappoint Laura Hogan as Town Clerk. Hogan’s job status was in limbo after the board deadlocked 3-3 in a decision whether to reappoint the sitting town clerk, attorney, and treasurer.
