Law enforcement agencies in southern Colorado want to make sure every single police officer and sheriff’s deputy is safe on the streets. We’ve introduced you to Shield 616 before and on Saturday local law enforcement washed cars to raise money to buy more protective gear for officers.
They said it has been a heartbreaking year for several Colorado agencies and the creator of the group said he’s close to getting every officer in El Paso County taken care of with new gear.
"Obviously we saw what happened at the start of the year, we’re trying to move with a sense of urgency we want to get these men and women equipped as fast as we can because who knows what’s happening right now on the streets of Colorado," Jake Skifstad, organizer Shield 616.
