Southbound I-25 in Denver will be closed through morning rush hour following a fatal shooting on the Interstate.
The closure is at I-25 and University.
Denver Police said an Uber driver fatally shot a passenger in his vehicle early Friday morning.
Denver police department spokesman Sonny Jackson says preliminary information points to a conflict between the driver and passenger. He says shots were fired by the driver on Interstate 25 shortly before 3 a.m Friday.
Police said while the driver does work for Uber, they could not confirm if he was working at the time of the shooting.
The victim and driver were both transported to area hospitals. Jackson said the victim has been pronounced dead.
At this time, no further information has been made available.
While the highway is closed, drivers can exit the at Santa Fe and take that to eastbound Hampden Avenue to get back to the highway. They can also take Evans through the DU campus area.
