A pregnant elk on Lookout Mountain is still giving birth in front of cameras on Lookout Mountain west of Denver.
The animal in labor captured the hearts of thousands of Facebook users Tuesday night, as more than 13,000 people watched a live stream of the event from News 5 partners 9NEWS in Denver.
Colorado Parks and Wildlife along with two wildlife veterinarians are going to check on the elk Tuesday afternoon. Officers said they don’t yet know if they’ll intervene to help the animal or if they’ll let nature run its course.
CPW representatives told 9NEWS Tuesday night that it appeared the cow elk was struggling Tuesday night as thousands watched the video.
At its peak, the livestream video reached more than 1 million Facebook users, with 500,000 people watching it from around the world.
