Loved ones gathered on Highway 50 east of Pueblo Friday morning as the Colorado State Patrol dedicated a sign to the memory of Trooper Frances I. Galvin.

Trooper Galvin was killed in the line of duty on May 25, 1979 as she was investigating an accident at the site where the sign is now in place.

A driver not involved in the accident hit Galvin while she was on the side of the road.

Galvin was the first female Colorado State Trooper killed in the line of duty. She had only been with the agency for 15 months.
