Teller County authorities have identified the suspect in an officer involved shooting that occurred Sunday night on Highway 67.

52-year-old Jeffery Boyd Bader has been identified and charged with attempted murder in the first degree, second degree assault, and vehicular eluding. Following the incident, he was treated at an area hospital and will be held at the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center.

The incident began when Teller County Sheriff’s Deputies and Cripple Creek Police responded to a suspicious person call in the 1200 block of Highway 67. When they arrived, Bader took off in a vehicle. After a short chase, he crashed.

Authorities said that Bader then "aggressively attacked" the responding officers. During the physical confrontation, an officer fired a shot, which struck Bader.

One officer from each responding agency received non-life threatening injuries during the fight. Both officers were treated for their injuries and released.
