A Colorado Springs Police Department School Resource officer cited a Sierra High School student for assault Wednesday morning for an in-class incident with a teacher.

According to the officer, 18-year-old Angelina Chavez returned to a classroom to get a jacket in the middle of testing when a teacher attempted to stop her interrupting the class.

Chavez is accused of knocking the teacher to the ground before punching the staff member multiple times in the face. The officer’s report states students tried to get Chavez away from the teacher.

The teacher suffered contusions to the forehead, while Chavez may have broken her knuckles. Chavez was "served and released" on a charge of assault.
