Looking for a new adventure? Planning a big move? Want to know where the most fun states in the country are?

Well if you live here in Colorado, you’re in luck because it’s the 8th most fun state in America! WalletHub conducted a study to determine the most fun states to visit comparing all 50 states on two key categories, entertainment and recreation and nightlife.

Although everyone’s definition of fun is a little different, WalletHub says it took that into consideration in putting the list together. The two categories were evaluated by WalletHub data crunchers using 26 different metrics including number of attractions, restaurants per capita, average beer and wine price, skiing facilities per capita and more.

Those metrics were graded on a 100-point scale with a 100 score being the highest, according to WalletHub. An average was then determined for each state across each of the metrics and then ranked in order using the overall score.

Colorado ranked top five in a number of categories including most skiing facilities per capita and highest state and local expenditures on parks and recreation per capita.

According to WalletHub, the number one ranked state is California and the very last at 50th place is West Virginia. Colorado did not make it to the top five, but hey eighth is pretty close!

WalletHub says the top states offer such a wide variety of activities that "everyone will be able to find something that excites them."

Here is a list of the Top 10:

  1. California
  2. New York
  3. Nevada
  4. Florida
  5. Illinois
  6. Washington
  7. Texas
  8. Colorado
  9. Pennsylvania
