A grass fire in Chaffee County has prompted mandatory evacuations for people living in the Ranch of the Rockies Subdivision.

According to Park County, the mandatory area includes Ranch Road north to Campfire to Blacksmith to Oahu. There are structures north east of the fire.

Officials named the fire the Kaufman Fire, and is two miles south of Hwy 24 on the border of Park County. Officials said the fire was reported a little before 11:30 a.m. and was human caused.

Gusting winds are creating difficulty in containing the blaze. So far, five acres have burned, according to the Pike & San Isabel National Forests Cimarron and Comanche National Grasslands Fire Information.

There are multiple agencies on scene.
