The best kicker in the NFL Draft is hanging out in Colorado Springs.

Former Auburn kicker Daniel Carlson spent the last two days with his family at the Colorado Springs Racquet Club, killing time until Saturday playing tennis.

Carlson is projected to get his name called sometime in the late rounds. He is seen as the best kicker in the draft pool.

"Sooner rather than later we’ll get a phone call and get my name called on the TV," Carlson said.

Carlson was a star kicker at TCA but got his start in soccer before seeing the light and transitioning to football. It’s set him on a path to the NFL.

The former SEC Special Teams player of the year for 2016 and 2017 leaned on former and current NFL kickers for advice during the pre-draft process.

"Whether you’re in the league now or you’re going to be in the league, everyone is hoping for success but it’s tough," Carlson said. "There are only 32 kickers in the league and no back up spots so you’re either taking someone else’s job or you’re going to be competing for someone’s job each year."
