With a weekend warm-up on the way, it’s the perfect time to show some love to your lawn! We’re watching out for you with what you need to do right now to get that perfect yard.

Something you may not realize that has a negative impact on your grass are strong winds. Windy day’s like today, make it even more important to water frequently – like 3 to 4 times a week!

"With winds it’s going to get dry," said John Curtis with Organically Grown Lawn Care. "It’s going to suck up all the moisture from the soil it can get, so we’re going to have to try and compensate for that."

If it’s not windy, you should be watering every 4 to 5 days.

Experts say ideally you should have started watering back in December or January, but if you didn’t get the chance it’s not too late. If you’re just starting – consider watering a bit longer. You want to avoid any quick cycles and use more water less frequently. Make sure you’re hitting every spot for at least 5 to 10 minutes.

Keep an eye on those temperatures. When we reach 70 to 80 degrees make sure you’re watering every 2 to 3 times a week. If it’s up to the 90s – whatever it takes to keep that grass green.

If you haven’t already, now is the time to start fertilizing as well. Remember, you should be fertilizing your lawn about 4 to 5 times a year.
