Fort Carson announces 2018 summer deployment

Fort Carson announced more troops will deploy to Europe in support of the U.S. European Command’s Atlantic Resolve mission.

The 4th Combat Aviation Brigade, 4th Infantry Division will deploy this summer as part of regular rotation of forces. According to a release, the brigade will replace the 1st Air Cavalry Brigade from Fort Hood, Texas.

"The 4th Combat Aviation Brigade is ready to deploy to Europe and work closely with our NATO and regional partners in support of Atlantic Resolve," said Col. Scott Gallaway, commander, 4th Combat Aviation Brigade, 4th Infantry Division. "Our focus on tough, realistic training over the last year has prepared us for this upcoming mission. I am extremely proud of our Soldiers for their hard work and dedication. We are enormously grateful for the steadfast support of our families, and the ever-present support from the Fort Carson community."

Fort Carson also announced the 4th Attack Reconnaissance Battalion, 4th Combat Aviation Brigade, 4th Infantry Division will deploy to U.S. Central Command’s area of operations in support of combatant command mission requirements.

The battalion will replace the 7th Squadron, 17th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Air Cavalry Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division, from Fort Hood, Texas.
