A wildfire burning near Sedalia has closed Highway 67 at Rampart Range Road, according to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office. The fire is burning west of Pine Creek Rd. and east of Rainbow Creek Rd. Highway 67 is closed southwest of Sedalia.
A pre-evacuation order has been sent to residents. Large animals can be housed the Douglas County Fair Grounds.
Details on the cause and size of the fire were not immediately available. Windy conditions with gusts up to 60 miles per hour are creating challenges for firefighters.
A Red Flag warning is in effect until 8 p.m. due to strong winds and low humidity.
It’s the third wildfire in Douglas County in the last few hours. South Metro Fire as well as MetCom Fire crews are on the scene.
