PUEBLO, Colorado — There is a rare opportunity this weekend to get a different look at the steel mill in Pueblo. As part of of it's annual Steel'ebration fundraiser, the Steelworks Center of the West and EVRAZ have arranged to once again light the stacks, shining bright flood lights on the old blast furnaces.
The last time this in 2014, it was so popular it stopped traffic on I-25.
Christina Trujillo, Executive Director of Steelworks, said this fundraiser is about celebrating Puelo's heritage.
"It's really a day just to come and celebrate and enjoy and remember our heritage and what that meant to help form our community today," she said.
The event will feature live music, museum tours, and a carnival for kids. There will be plenty to eat and drink including Walters Beer on tap.
Tickets to the Steel'ebration cost $6 for adults, kids age 6 and under can get in for free. For an extra $6, participant can take a bus tour of the steel mill and get to walk through the old employee tunnels beneath I-25.
