El Paso County Fair starts Saturday

CALHAN — Aside from the usual livestock shows, exotic animals like camels and reptiles are expected to be a big draw at the El Paso County Fair.

"You can come out to the county fair and see the steers, see the goats, see everything else, but you can't always come to a county fair and see camels, so it will be a great experience for everybody to come out," said fair board chair Lori Harfert.

The fair started as a potato festival in 1905.

Gates open at 10 Saturday morning. It runs through next Saturday, July 20.
