Around Town this weekend, take a trip to the stars at the Space Foundation Discovery Center. It's a family friendly, interactive center to learn about all things space! It's a non-profit foundation where education comes first, both for adults and children.
Elias Molen, director of the Discovery Center says, "You don't realize how much space impacts your daily life. I mean we get so much information from space that, honestly, we would be kind of put back to the dark ages if, technology wise, it wasn't for these resources."
They have events going on all year! Coming up on September 4th is homeschool day. On September 26th is their Space After Dark trivia night for ages 21 and older. And on the last Wednesday of every month is the Family Star Party with telescope viewing in the parking lot.
The Discovery Center is open Thursday through Saturday, 10 am to 4 pm. Adults cost $10, and kids are $5. For more information visit their website discoverspace.org.
Around Town airs every Saturday morning on News5 Today Weekend at 7 am. If you know a cool place or activity Around Town that should be featured, email alex.obrien@koaa.com.
