GREELEY, Colo. (AP) — A man has been taken into protective custody after spending more than 12 hours in the rafters of the Bank of Colorado Arena at the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley.
UNC police Chief Dennis Pumphrey tells The Greeley Tribune that the man, whose name wasn’t released, was unarmed and not considered a threat to others.
Pumphrey says the man willingly came down about 10 a.m. Thursday after hours of talks with firefighters and police and was taken to a hospital. He had been in the rafters since at least 9:20 p.m. Wednesday.
He says no charges would be pursued.
The area of the arena was closed during the incident but no athletic events were affected and only one class had to be moved.
