Alan Rose is an award-winning meteorologist who can be seen weekday mornings on News5 Today, alongside Brie Groves and the rest of the morning team.
Alan joined the weather team in the fall of 2019 and in that time, has grown familiar with Colorado's wild and extreme weather. From reporting live on Monument Hill in more than a foot of snow to tracking wildfires and severe summer storms, Alan says that he relies on almost two decades of experience in keeping Southern Colorado viewers safe and informed.
Before coming to News5, Alan spent more than 14 years as chief meteorologist at KEYT and KKFX in Santa Barbara. In 2015, he was awarded the Golden Mike Award from the Radio & TV News Association of Southern California for Best TV Weather Segment. Before Santa Barbara, Alan worked as a meteorologist at WCBI in Columbus, Mississippi while attending graduate school at Mississippi State University.
Alan was born in Jacksonville, Florida, and attended college at the University of Alabama. He received his degree in Communications while competing as a springboard and platform diver. As a student-athlete, Alan represented the university on a national stage on the 10-meter platform. His favorite party trick you ask? He says that he can still do a handstand.
To live in Colorado has been a lifelong dream of Alan’s, and he says that his favorite thing about living here is getting to explore every corner of this majestic state. He's an avid skier and hiker, and to date, has summited two Fourteeners. He's also eager to get involved in the community while taking on the challenge of working in one of the most diverse climates in the country.
