COLORADO SPRINGS — Do you believe in miracles?

45 years ago, it was a miracle on ice. The United States beat the Soviet Union in the medal round.

The Soviets were highly favored in the game, going in as four-time defending gold medalists with a team of professional players.

America was led by coach Herb Brooks and a team of mostly amateur players, and only four players with minor league experience.

This matchup was held during the Cold War, then President Jimmy Carter considered boycotting that year's Olympics in protest of the Afghanistan invasion.

The call from Al Michaels still lives on as one of the greatest calls in sports history.

Sports Illustrated named the 'Miracle on Ice' as the greatest sports moment of the 20th Century. Part of that history is preserved here in Colorado Springs.

The U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Museum (USOPM) hosts the scoreboard from the 'Miracle on Ice' game.

The chairman of the museum brought the artifact from Lake Placid to the springs in 2019.

Not all of the scoreboards made it to Colorado.

According to the museum's website, the manufacturer and two museums, including the Lake Placid Olympic Museum in New York, kept some panels from the historic scoreboard.

Today, it's still an exhibit at the museum for fans to see.
