FOUNTAIN — A massive fire in Fountain destroyed a home and two vehicles early Tuesday morning.

Several fire departments responded to the blaze on Flying F Road and Double D Road that started around 5:30 a.m.

The Fountain Fire Department said there were reports of an explosion near the fire as well.

Fountain Fire Chief James Maxon said the fire started in a car next to the garage and caused explosions that "rocked" emergency vehicles.

There was one woman in the home when the fire started, but she was able to get out safely with her pets.

A News5 crew on scene said the Fort Carson Explosive Ordnance Disposal team assisted in the investigation to figure out what exactly exploded.

FFD said they were initially told the explosion may have been caused by military ammunition, but they did not find any live ammunition.

The department said it is suspected the explosion may have been caused by fuels stored in the garage, but it is still under investigation.
