“Haze”, a just completed documentary movie by local production company Watt Imagination, is starting to get some national attention. It’s a look at extreme drinking and the troubling, too often deadly results on college campuses.
It was started after the alcohol related death of 18 year old University of Colorado Freshman, Gordie Bailey. He was found dead after a night of heavy drinking. Rather than recognizing he was in trouble, people around him left him.
Bailey’s parents asked Watt Imagination to take on the project. The film took more than two years to complete--much longer than the six to nine month goal at the start. Director Pete Schuermann says, "As we dove into it we learned, like layers of the onion that were being uncovered, like holy cow this is some incredible stuff here." Producer Rob Watt adds, "There is some very graphic images. Nothing is recreated everything is actual footage."
The movie premier happens in Colorado Springs June 21st. The event’s at Kimball's. More than entertainment the goal is educating young people that binge drinking can kill.
